Author Anna Ciddor visit

Yesterday, award-winning author and illustrator ANNA CIDDOR visited our school to share her writing and illustrating secrets with some of our Year 4 to 6 students.

Anna inspired us with her enthusiasm for the three Rs: Research, Reading and wRiting! Her fun, lively presentation was full of audience participation and ‘show and tell’ and we were lucky enough to be taken behind the scenes to find out about the making of …

THE BOY WHO STEPPED THROUGH TIME

  • Students are still able to order a signed copy of the book via QKR.
  • Order must be placed by 9am on Friday the 13th May.

We cannot thank Anna enough for popping in to visit us on her way to the Authors Festival in Bendigo. We were even privileged to a secret reading from her latest novel which is with the editors as we speak and will be released in 2023.

Be Kind

Over the last couple of weeks students have been engaging in a number of activities which have included kindness, these have included kindness quilts and paper chains. Students have been engaging in ways to be kind to others and how they like to be treated by others.

Students who start seeking the good in each other and, by acknowledging it, encourage more kind acts in turn.

This can be:

  • visually encouraging – something all of the children would see often and feel encouraged by
  • ongoing – nothing that I would need to limit or could potentially run out of, because kindness never runs out
  • collaborative – something that acknowledged that a single act of kindness contributed to the whole group
  • beautiful – something that the children would love and cherish and want to nurture
  • open-ended – something where children could acknowledge each other, themselves, or others

House Teams

This year you will see a lot more of our House Team Shields and Mascots. These were designed last year in conjunction with our 2021 House Captains, Mr Condon, Mr Chamerski and Dja Dja Wurrung. Last week at assembly we reintroduced them to the school with our newly printed banners, thanks again to Minuteman Press Greensborough for these amazing banners.

For those who aren’t familiar with our Mascots please meet:

  • Ebden - Yulawil - Echidnas
  • Chisholm - Djinap - Cockatoos
  • Mitchell - Dong-Dong - Blue Tongue Lizards
  • Dryden - Ngari - Ducks
