Principal’s Message

Mrs Kath Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

Unbelievably we are at the end of Term 1. It has been an action packed term with our students having many opportunities to live life to the full.

We wish our PP5 swimmers the very best of luck this week when they compete in Sydney for the PSSA Swimming Championships. We know that they will again do themselves and our school proud!

Congratulations also to all students who entered their art, handwriting and writing into the Gunnedah Show. We were fortunate to have many students receive recognition for their efforts. We will present these awards at our first Friday assembly for Term 2.

For any families who have children wishing to enter solo or duets at the upcoming Gunnedah Eisteddfod, entries are due by this Friday. The Eistedfodd syllabus and entry forms have been posted on Compass.

Our Easter Hat Parade and egg hunt will still take place this Wednesday at school. All students are encouraged to wear their hat creations. Students can either bring a creation from home or they can wear the hat they have made at school.

On Friday we will be having our Easter and ANZAC Day liturgies. Seating will be provided for parents similar to events of the past so you can still join us.

With the commencement of Term 2, there will be the change over from summer to winter uniform. There will be a transition period between the two uniforms according to the weather for the first four weeks of Term 2. During this transition period students are either to wear their summer uniform or their winter uniform but not a combination of the two. Please remember that sports jackets are only to be worn with the sports uniform and the navy jumper is to be worn with the formal school uniform. The only amendment to this during the four week period will be school photo day where all students will need to attend in their full winter uniform.

Our 2023 Transition to School program will be commencing on Thursday 28 April. Due to some unforseen circumstances in Week 1, our parent information session will be postponed until Week 1 of Term 2. I will advise of a day and time.

If you know of anyone intending to enrol for 2023 please encourage them to contact me at the school.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone for welcoming me so kindly to Sacred Heart School this year. I am incredibly appreciative of the hard work and support provided by staff, students, parents and the wider school community.  I wish everyone a happy and holy Easter, with plenty of chocolate and time to relax!

School will recommence on Tuesday 26 April.

A special mention to Mrs Rees and Ms Traynor who celebrate their birthdays in the holidays. We hope you both have a very special day!

Take care

Kath Baird
