Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to Term 2!

It is exciting to see so many students back at school this week looking relaxed and ready for a great term of learning. I hope that everyone had an enjoyable Easter break and was able to recharge and rest.

Term 2 is always a busy term of learning, with several events happening. We have major learning events like NAPLAN and our Year 6 students completing their RE Test in June. We will also have Catholic Schools Week and a number of sporting events that some of our students will be taking part in. Please keep an eye on Compass, Social Media and your emails for updates throughout the term.

Retirement

With sadness, I announce to the school community the retirement of Mrs Anna Baird, who has been working at St Joseph's for a number of years across her 45-year career in education.

I first met Anna in 2019 when she came on board to help release Early Career Teachers for a day a week and fill in as a casual teacher when needed. In 2020 she took on a new CAPA (Creative & Performing Arts) role within the school and taught all students until the end of Term 1, 2022. Mrs Baird is a passionate educator who has helped all of our students to have a greater appreciation of art, dance, drama and music.

I trust that you will all join in with me to thank Anna for her service to education and, in particular, her service to St Joseph's Wee Waa. We wish her all of the best in the numerous organisations she is a part of. It will not be a quiet retirement!

Welcome

With privilege, I announce Mrs Courtney Meppem has been employed as our new CAPA teacher for 2022. Mrs Meppem is an experienced teacher from Narrabri, and we wish her all of the best with her time here at St Joseph's Wee Waa.

ANZAC Day

Thank you to all our school families who took part in ANZAC services in Wee Waa last Monday. It is an important day for Australians and New Zealanders, and it was wonderful to witness all of our students present there participating so reverently.
