Stage 2 Building works

Last week there was lots of excitement as the concrete slab was poured for the new Year 7 Hub as part of Stage 2 of our College redevelopment.

Fingers crossed all goes to plan and this building is ready for our students at the start of Term 1 2023!

Grade 5 and 6 Information Evening 4th May 2022

Thank you to everyone who attended our Grade 5 and 6 Information Evening. It was great to see so many new and existing families.

Families had the opportunity to have a walk through the Year 7 Hub, visit the Hospitality Centre, view student work, have a chat with teachers and meet Basil, one of our College therapy dogs.  After the walk through families attended the information session held in the Malgobila building and listened to performances by our music students.

If you require any further information or wish to have a tour of the school please contact the College on 5150 4800 or bairnsdale.sc@education.vic.gov.au

Mobile Architecture: The Exchange Van

On Thursday 28th April the Mobile Art Van came to our College.  The Van displayed digital art that was produced by our Year 10 and 11 students.

Mobile Architecture: The Exchange Van is a research project between RMIT University and the East Gippsland Shire Council. The Exchange Van is a mobile mentorship program and exhibition space that travels throughout the East Gippsland region connecting creative individuals with established creative practitioners through engagement with technology and digital media.

Year 10 Outdoor Education

Semester 1 of Year 10 Outdoor education has included two major excursions so far, yay!

In Term 1 the group journeyed by canoe around Paynesville, Newlands Arm and Raymond Island. There was an impressive level of improvement by all canoe partnerships, as each pair was able to develop skills including paddling together, moving in a straight line and having control of their boat. The opportunity to check out flora and fauna on Raymond Island built on knowledge from class activities.

Day 1 of Term 2 was spent surfing! Heading to Cape Conran for a session run by the Surf Shack, all students tried to hit every wave they could. Taj Corben showed everyone how it was done, and you couldn’t knock the smiles off Akeela Southen, Tess Shaw and Lawson Ward and pretty much all participants. After the session, students had a quick explore at Salmon Rocks, rock pooling and observing sea squirts, crabs, starfish and other marine life. A great way to start the term.
