Intermediate Girls Netball Competition

A cold, wet Melbourne day saw a team of intrepid Year 10 netballers, their two Y12 coaches a treasured alumni supervisor and their team manager embark on a day of action at Jells Park Netball Stadium.

It was time for the interschool competition and our opponents were South Oakleigh, Brentwood, and Wellington Secondary Colleges. JMSS were competitive, both our teams won two matches and lost two matches. Terrific coaching from Sonia Broch and Carolyn Prakash who gave up their free time and a day of classes to support both teams. Thanks also to Francine Machin (Alumni) for her support on the day.

A great day was had by all. New friendships, a renewed passion for the game and newly acquired and rejuvenated skills. It was a pleasure to accompany such a friendly, competitive team who also displayed excellent sporting protocols and friendliness to other schools. I’m already looking forward to moving up to Senior Netball with this group! Congratulations team on your commitment and the way you represented yourselves and our school.

JMSS Aths Day

WHAT A DAY!

We all braved the rain and cold and had brilliant fun doing it.

Congratulations to everyone who participated, cheered on peers and dressed up!

Some JMSS records were broken - Well done to all the winners of the day!

Congratulations to Brandon Chung who broke the JMSS record for 400m - with a time of 59.17!

Here are some highlights

Interschool Girls Football

The girls played well despite losing to a much stronger Brentwood team but had a win against Wellington.

Senior Girls & Boys Volleyball

On Thursday the 12th of May the Senior girls and boys Volleyball teams competed in the One Day Victorian Volleyball Schools Cup. Both teams came third in Division 2, coming home with two bronze medals for JMSS!

Here are the happy teams with their coach, Edwin!

Senior Girls Netball

On a cold, frosty, gloomy morning the Senior Girls netball teams competed at Waverley Netball Centre. Although the weather was not welcoming and the UV rays were low, the energy levels were very high.

Both A and B teams gave it their best shot, with A winning all their games besides the last as tiredness got the best of them. The B team on the other hand were so supportive and motivational within their netball games and won in spirit. When results were announced John Monash Science School placed 2nd overall, what an effort!

The joyful day ended with Ms Cohen handing out M&Ms, Mars-bars and Milky-way chocolates to the teams. Magnificent.
