The Premier’s Reading Challenge is underway
During week one, the Premier’s Reading Challenge was launched at Clovelly Park Primary School. Ms Ray, our librarian, helped students understand how to find the nominated Premier’s Reading Challenge books in the library by identifying the colourful stickers on the spines of the books. Students were encouraged to borrow two books and begin their challenge. The official recording sheet was also given to students to help them monitor their progress.
Parents can support at home by encouraging their child to participate. Listening to your child read or reading to them, and then talking about the books helps foster a love of reading and supports reading development.
More information can be found at www.premiersreadingchallenge.sa.edu.au or speak to your child’s class teacher if your need support.
The reading challenge officially ends on September 9th and all forms need to be returned to classroom teachers before this date.
Red Unit Easter Hunt
For some Easter fun the Red Unit went outside to play rob the nest and do an egg and spoon race for some Easter fun. While we were outside the Easter Bunny delivered an egg to our Easter baskets!
Introduction to Miss Preet
This week R5 has welcomed Miss Preet. She is a second year Masters student at Flinders University who is completing her degree in Early Childhood. Miss Preet will be with the class for 8 weeks and with the support of Miss Amber she will gradually take over the teaching load. So far Miss Preet has enjoyed her time in the class and looks forward to being involved with the student’s learning and play in the upcoming weeks. She will encourage their literacy, numeracy and maintain positive behaviour and relationships with all the children and their families.
