Year 6 Leadership Day!

On Tuesday 27 April the Year 6s spent the day engaging in leadership, agency, and team bonding activities which saw them explore off campus around Mt Waverley and the Valley Reserve.

Despite the cloudy weather, the students were thoroughly engaged and excited - the activities pushed them and they worked exceptionally well in their teams to solve various problems and puzzles.

They learnt about themselves and also what leadership entails, with ideas such as:

• Leadership of self

• Leadership with others in a team

• Challenge individuals and the team: physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially in different ways

Junior School Art

YEAR 5 - Our very talented Year 5 students have recently been learning about collagraph printmaking and created artworks which responded to our 2022 school theme of ‘Forward to the Light’. Using the lighthouse as a focus, students used layers of cut foam to create a textured plate. Students enjoyed inking their  plates and using the printing press to ‘pull’ a final print. Well done Grade 5s – they look fantastic!

YEAR 4 - The Year 4 students have recently been learning the process of screen-printing. Students began the project by designing and cutting their own stencil based on Australian native flowers. Working in small teams, students hand pulled the print on paper and finally on a fabric tote bag. Well done Grade 4s – they look fantastic!

YEAR 2 - The Year 2s have recently been learning the art of relief printmaking using poly-tiles to create a patterned mosque print. Taking inspiration from mosques and Ramadan celebrations, students have hand drawn and pressed patterns into their tiles. Students have also been experimenting with creating interesting marks on paper using salt and watercolour paint. Well done Grade 2s – they look fantastic so far!
