Sam W (Year 9)

An incredible achievement from baseball star Sam W who recently participated in 3 major sporting tournaments:

U14 State Baseball Championships (9th – 11th April in Geelong)

Sam’s representative team, the Eastern Athletics won this tournament and now progress to the Australian Championships in Adelaide at the end of May. It was a super team effort to watch such great sportsmanship and team spirit. Every single person played their part in securing the State Championship.  If the team win Nationals they will represent Australia at the Junior League World Series in America in July.

U14 Australian Softball Championships (13th – 17th April in Canberra)

Sam represented Victoria at the U14 Australian Softball Championships in Canberra. Sam had a blast, with a team leading batting average of .700 which was outstanding. Although they did not medal, Sam thoroughly enjoyed his time there.

U16 Australian Softball Championships (20th – 24th April in Sydney)

He was also lucky enough to be selected in the U16 Victorian team as well,  and was in Sydney for the Australian U16 Championships.

Congratulations to Sam who has had a busy, but very enjoyable few weeks of competition, making many new friends and competing in the sports he loves at the highest level.

VSAC Swimming Carnival

Congratulations to Abby H, George H, Cheng-Yu H and Julia P who were selected by Nathan Bower (Executive Officer of the EISM) to represent the EISM Associate at the Victorian Schools Association Competition (VSAC) Swimming Carnival on Monday 9th May.

This is an honourable achievement, and our students didn’t disappoint - obtaining many podium finishes. We are very proud of you all.

Thank you to our wonderful swimming parents for braving the chilly night and supporting our incredible swimmers.

A special shout out to Abby H who finished her school swimming career with outstanding results. She has represented Huntingtower in all House, EISM and EISM Championship Carnivals throughout her schooling years and it has been a pleasure to see her shine in something that she is so passionate about.

Abby leaves us with this...

It’s been an honour to swim for the school for the last few years and I know the younger guys coming through will do a great job, upholding the Huntingtower legacy

Josh H (Year 11)

Victorian Championships for Gymnastics.

Josh was competing in the level 8 Open competition for the Men's Artistic Gymnastics (MAG). As he was returning from his hand injury he was only able to compete in 5 out of the 6 apparatus. Congratulations to Josh who placed 2nd in vault and pommel and 3rd on floor and rings!

Harshitaa N (Year 11)

Congratulations to Michael X (Year 11) and Chloe D (Year 10) who both qualified for the state Grand Final of the Rotary Ainger Peck Award after winning their heats this week.

Four heats were held which saw students across Melbourne complete in this public speaking competition. The competition is unique in that it focuses on delivery and engagement of an audience by a speaker, rather than the content and persuasiveness of a speech. Michael presented a witty exploration of the unusual nature of idioms, while Chloe provided an amusing and thoughtful reflection on the importance of smiling.

We wish Michael and Chloe good luck as they prepare for the Grand Final in two weeks’ time.

Well done also to Esha H (Year 11), who also represented Huntingtower and only narrowly missed out on a place in the Grand Final after placing fourth in her heat.
