A huge congratulations to our Huntingtower Athletics team who headed off early last Thursday morning (May 5) to the Lakeside Athletics Track, with nerves and excitement at the prospect of competing in each of their track or field events.
Our 110 plus students showed great commitment to give their best for Huntingtower with strong attendance at the Wednesday morning, Monday evening and holiday training sessions, held over the past few months. A big thank you to our coaches, Mark, Chloe, Angela and David, and the Sports Captains for spending time with each student to help them achieve their personal best.
Congratulations to the 16 students who achieved 1st place ribbons in their individual event, with 1/3 of our team placing in the top three in at least one event.
Special mentions to the following students with won multiple first place ribbons:
U14 Girls - Tonia T - 100m C, 200m B and Triple Jump
U14 Boys - Sam W - 400m and Discus
U15 Girls - Piper L - 200m B and High Jump
U16 Girls - Maxine M - 100m C and Triple Jump
Honourable mention to Olivia C for achieving four 2nd place ribbons and 1st place for her 400m run. This is an outstanding achievement coming off a 3 day physically demanding Year 10 residential program.
Special congratulations to Kalan L for achieving a new EISM Record in the 1500m with a time of 4:25.6min. An exceptional effort and proud moment for us all.
It was a close competition with Huntingtower winning the ‘Most Improved School’ Award and placing 4th Overall. We are extremely proud of all our students who competed, assisted, cheered and supported the team. Thank you for your commitment, enthusiasm, and efforts. You deserve this fantastic result.
Thanks to our incredible staff and parents who came on the day, we couldn’t have done it without you. We look forward to cheering on our competitors who will attend the Champions Athletics Carnival on Tuesday 24th May.
