Primary School News

Dear Parents, caregivers and students, 

We are looking forward to welcoming you back to Term 2 next week. I hope the break has afforded you time to rest and reinvigorate for another wonderful term filled with activities. 

The term resumes on Tuesday 19 April, with a change to Winter Uniform for Term 2 and Term 3. 

 Pre-Prep:  

• The College tracksuit or navy fleecy jumper may be worn 

Prep to Year 6:  

• May wear knee-high socks with their formal uniform or continue with ankle socks  
• The College jumper or vest may be worn with the formal uniform 
• The College tracksuit or navy fleecy jumper may be worn on HPE days 

We kindly ask that you please label all items. 

As proven over the past two years, our students and families again demonstrated their resilience and embraced the sudden lockdown requirements, switch to online learning and uncertainty of Term 1. Our thoughts and prayers to those in our community who dealt with COVID-19 illnesses and isolation periods and the floods which impacted so many. My thanks to our truly dedicated team of teachers who ensured students were continually striving to meet their goals and were given exceptional learning opportunities. 

We are delighted to welcome many new families and students to the College in Pre-Prep, Prep, Year 2 and Year 5 and 6 this term. We wish them a wonderful beginning in their new school.   

Staffing  

Thank you to Ms. Angela Guzman for engaging our younger students in Spanish over the past 12 months and contributing to the learning of students who have English as their Additional Language.

We wish her all the very best in her future endeavours. This term, we are delighted to welcome back Ms. Chelsey Holman as our Spanish and EALD teacher. Ms. Holman returns after 12 months of maternity leave.

Pre-Prep to Year 12 Group Photos will be held in Term 2 on Friday 22 April.

Group Photos will consist of: 

• Class Photos: Pre-Prep to Year 6
• PC Photos: Years 6 to 12
• House Photos
• Year 12 Photo
• Boarders Photo
• Secondary Leaders Years 7 to 12  
• The Clayfield Family (Daughters/Sons of past students)
• Student ID Catch-up
• *Clayfield College Sibling Photos – (primary students must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or secondary sibling)

Please refer to the document below for online ordering details.  Please note the following:

• An online ordering form (from Studio Kirby) will be sent home on Tuesday 19 April 2022.  This form will include your child’s unique id code
• *CC Sibling Photos – on the photo day, please bring the Yellow Sibling Ticket from your online ordering form used to place your order
• Orders are to be finalised by Friday 6 May.  Late orders will incur an $18.00 administration processing and handling fee

Pyjama Day Fundraiser for Ashburn House

Friday 29 April 

Please bring a gold coin donation to wear your PJs for the day for Ashburn’s charity; The Pyjama Foundation for children in foster care.  If you have sport on this day, please bring your sports gear to change into. 

Mother’s Day Breakfast

Tuesday 3 May

Join us for a special Mother’s Day breakfast celebrating all the wonderful mother figures in our lives.

There will be a range of performances from Primary and Secondary students.

Primary Interhouse Cross Country Carnival 

Wednesday 4 May 

The annual Interhouse Cross Country carnival will take place on Wednesday 4 May from 9:00 am at the Brisbane Grammar School Northgate playing fields.  

Mrs. Richardson will provide further details closer to the event.

Mother’s Day Stall

Thursday 5 May

Items being sold will be advertised in the Clayfield Collective.  Children wishing to purchase from the stall are invited to bring in money on the day.

Primary Mother’s Day Morning

Friday 6 May 

To celebrate Mother’s Day, we will be holding a Primary Mothers’ Day Morning on Friday 6 May.  The overview of the event is as follows: 

8:40 am - 9:15 am Visit your child(ren)’s classroom to share in their learning. 

9:15 am - 9:30 am Enjoy a special Mother’s Day concert presented by some of our very talented Clayfield College musicians.  

9:30 am - 10:00 am Enjoy a picnic-style morning tea with your child(ren) on Leopard Terrace.  

There will be a coffee van on site.  All our guests will be given a coffee/tea voucher. 

Harmony Day Assembly 

Prep to Year 12

Tuesday 17 May 11:00 am

One of the most anticipated events of the year is the Procession of Nations as part of our Harmony Day Assembly.  

If you would like your child/ren to participate in the Procession of Nations, please register using the button below.

In the parade, students are to wear their national dress and will be representing their country of origin.  Further information regarding this event will be provided closer to the day. 

Clubs Program 

The Clubs program will begin in Week 2 of Term 2 and information in relation to this will be distributed via The Collective next week.  Clubs are optional, at no cost to families and the offerings change each term.   

Homework Club 

Homework Club is available to students from Year 3 onwards in the Upper LRC on Monday to Thursday from 3:15 pm – 5:00 pm. In order to attend, Primary students must be registered via email to studentservices@clayfield.qld.edu.au. Further, Primary students must be signed out by a parent or caregiver from the Upper LRC. Students are not permitted to leave the Upper LRC unattended by a parent or caregiver unless they are moving to a co-curricular activity. Parents must inform Student Services of this activity when registering their child. Thank you so very much for your assistance with these processes.  

External Co-Curricular Activities 

The following external sports and activities will be available for students to participate in Term 2. Please contact the provider directly for bookings and information. Mrs. David is the College contact for any questions you may have.
