MUSIC NEWS

TERM 4 2018
It has been an amazing start to the Final term for 2018.
YEAR 12
Over the term break all of the Year 12 Music Performance and Investigation students performed their end of year recital programs for Mr Kurowski in preparation for their exams. These exams have now begun, and we wish all the students well in their performances. If the snapshot presented at the Celebration Night at the end of Term 3 is anything to go by, I am sure they will do well.
VCE LEADERSHIP AWARDS
Congratulations to the Clarinet Choir, directed by Ms Su Rogerson, on their outstanding performance at the VCE Leadership Awards on Friday 21 September. Your outstanding musicianship and your fantastic representation of the school is highly appreciated. Well done!
Thank you also to Mr Martin West for his work in developing this group.
SENIOR SCHOOL OFFICIAL OPENING
Congratulations to the Saxophone Quartet (Gabi Basman, William Hardy, Sean Malton and Yael Zamir) for their outstanding performance at the official opening of the Senior School on Wednesday 10 October. Thank you to Kate Collier for singing the National Anthem at this event.
SYMPHONIC WIND GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Congratulations to the Symphonic Wind group for their performance at the General Assembly on Thursday 11 October. It was a great start to the assembly and a fantastic sound that was produced for the Final Assembly for 2018. Thank you also to Rony Olesh for singing the National Anthem.
FINAL FLING
Congratulations to the students in Symphonic Wind for their fabulous final performance for the Symphonic Wind Band for 2018 and a sad, but fond farewell to Gabi Basman, Lucas Banim, Chelsea Bria, Orlando Buttie, Emily Cartledge, Anthony Hantzopoulos, Veronica Olesh, Braydon Ross, Ofri Shahar and Yael Zamir all from Year 12. The band performed many favourites to a friendly crowd on Monday 15 October.
Thank you to Ms Su Rogerson for her ongoing development of this group throughout 2018.
JAMES MORRISON
On Saturday 13 October the Senior Stage Band had a fantastic opportunity to work with legendary jazz trumpeter and bandleader James Morrison. The students performed and were then workshopped on how to improve their overall sound as a band. Thank you Mr Dmitry Serebrianik for his organisation of this event.
