Students Taking Action

Keeping our School Clean!

We are very proud of the following Year 6 girls who have been picking up rubbish at lunch time of their own accord.

Well done Edie D (6C), Issy F (6C), Georgia H (6B), Libby C (6C), Millie Marshall (6A) and Eily S (6C) and thank you for keeping our school clean!

The Green Project - Syke M (4A) & Finn M (4B)

Yesterday Skye and Finn met with Mrs Duffy to discuss a very special project to help the environment. Skye and Finn are concerned that there are no recycling bins at BNPS and 'want to teach everyone about where to put rubbish and what will happen if we don't take action'

Skye and Finn have done extensive research and calculated how much rubbish is created by two classes in a 20 minute time frame, to determine how much rubbish is likely to be generated over time. They have also prepared a PowerPoint presentation on where to put rubbish, global warming and how much plastic is in the ocean.

Skye and Finn will be sharing their PowerPoint presentation with the Year 4 students initially and then hope to roll it out to all year levels. They also have fundraising in mind to support the re-introduction of a recycling program at BNPS. In the meantime, Skye and Finn would like to encourage parents to pack rubbish-free lunches.

'Be You' Day - 1 February

We are very grateful to everyone who supported Be You Day by bringing a gold coin donation.  We raised $689.20 from our gold coin donations to Child First.  Child First helps struggling families build strong relationships that heal and protect young children from trauma and stress.

On Be You day, the children participated in classroom activities that focused on the importance of having Courage, and being Brave, even when you are feeling scared or overwhelmed.  The children read books about courage, talked about times that they have been courageous, and learned more about ways that they could show courage in their lives.

We would like to especially acknowledge the children who stood up at assembly to represent their year level and share with the school what they had been doing on Be You day.  They showed enormous courage and bravery!

OzChild Wishing Tree Program

OzChild have passed on their sincerest thanks to our school community for brightening Christmas Day for many children, young people and families through the 2018 Wishing Tree Appeal. OzChild collected over 5,500 presents during December bringing some of the service teams to tears knowing what a difference it would make to the families that OzChild supports.
