Maths Update & Resources

Maths in Year 4

The current topic of focus for the Year 4 cohort is on Fractions and Decimals. Students have been working in their differentiated maths groups, focusing on the areas we believe are most necessary to consolidate key knowledge. Students have been showing steady improvement in each topic based on the tailoring of the different classes to suit skill levels, so we are super excited to see the growth they can make on this topic.

On top of our maths groups, each Thursday students remain in their classroom and complete an EdShop activity, which are problem based maths equations that are created around current topics of interest in the broader community. There are 4 alternative levels for students to independently choose to complete, which is teaching the students varied math skills and educating them on current news items at the same time.

EdShop Maths

Our school subscribes to EdShop Maths and receives weekly worded Maths based problems based on current topics shared in the media. Not only do students learn about current events, they also build on their problem-solving skills. There are four levels of difficulty (lower, middle, upper and extension) and the questions cover all areas of the Maths curriculum. Here are some for you to work on with your child at home (PDFs for each level attached below).
