Year 1 Music

Year 1 have enjoyed practising a poem written by Suzie Davis-Splitter who lives locally. The poem called 'Big Green Tram' fits in with their Unit of Inquiry ‘Where We Are In Time and Place’ and their focus on transport.

One of the learning intentions for this activity was to show cooperation as they listened carefully to each other, so they could keep the beat.

Year 2 Music

This term Year 2 have been learning that music has its own language, using symbols for both sound and silence and that this language can express ideas.

The Year Two Unit of Inquiry ‘Sharing the Planet’ has focused on living things going through change, so the students wrote and performed their own short composition, using the structure or ‘ABA form’ to demonstrate the idea of ‘Change.’

60 Buckets Required for Music!

We are keen to start ‘Bucket Drumming’ in Music classes but require 60 buckets of the same size (10 or 20 Litres) in order to do so - something solid that will go the distance (see picture below)!

If you are able to help the Music Team to achieve this, please email beaumaris.north.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au or deliver your buckets to the Music Rooms.  Thank you in advance!

Recorders for Year 4 Music

Currently, in the Music room, we are investigating medieval instruments, music and dance. Many of your children are very keen to learn about playing the recorder. While I have several recorders sitting in a tub in our storeroom (which I am willing to wash and sterilise after use), I would appreciate your help.

If your child is keen to play the recorder and you have one sitting around at home, could your child please bring it to Music classes for the rest of this term? I may also start a lunchtime ‘Recorder Ensemble’ out of this investigation, as students seem very interested in this opportunity. Thank you, Audrey Fine.
