This week old scholar, Callan McEntee joined the children for some drawing

Early Learning Centre

As part of the Visual and Creative Arts program in the Green room this term we are looking at artists and musicians; particularly from our immediate environment.

Old scholar Callan McEntee joined us on Wednesday 12 September to spend time with the children drawing. His first task was to draw the Green Room symbol/logo – “a green Bunyip”. With the inspiration coming from the children, together they then created a series of mythical made up creatures incorporating – a lion’s head, dragon’s body, dog’s legs and elephant’s tail. The children looked at the process of sketching, outlining and colouring. Callan plans to return to draw with us again.

The children will be visiting the music suite to observe students of various ages and abilities.

We also plan to ask other members of our families and community to share their special talents with us.

Next Monday, 17 September (Green Room) and Tuesday 18 September (Purple Room) will be taking part in an excursion to Woolworths at North Park. The Woolies Discovery Tour encourages children to explore the wonderful world of fruit and vegetables. Yellow Room will be doing so on Tuesday 23 October. Please check pigeon holes for excursion information and consent.
