It's NOT OK to be Away

In Victoria education is compulsory for children aged between 6 and 17.  When students are enrolled, it is expected they will attend every day of each term.

Parents will receive notification of any student-free days.

It is crucial that students develop habits of regular attendance at an early age.  This includes arriving at school, and each class, on time.

Students who regularly miss days of school are at risk of missing out on learning the basic building blocks in subjects, and may experience long term difficulties with their learning.

School attendance helps students develop social skills, such as friendship building, team work, communication skills and healthy self-esteem.

An absence from school requires a Doctor’s certificate or note of explanation that has been written and signed by a parent/guardian.  The note should accompany the student on the first day they return to school after the absence.  If the absence is expected to be longer than one day, please notify the Student Attendance Officer at your child’s campus.
