Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) Awards 2019
On Tuesday, 5 December, the annual atEAST School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship (SBAT) awards were held in our Performance Centre. The event was very well attended with representatives of the ten consortium schools as well as parents, staff and students present.
On behalf of Doncaster Secondary College, I would like to acknowledge and thank the atEAST team for looking after our School Based Apprentices / Trainees (SBATs). The atEAST field officers visit our SBAT students on a weekly basis in school to check that they are up-to-date with their VCAL studies. Also, they regularly visit the students at TAFE and in the work place. They ensure our students are achieving success in all aspects of the program and most importantly from the students’ perspective, they check that the students are being paid the correct wages!
Once again our school was well represented in the winners list. We are very proud of all our VCAL students, but I would particularly like to recognise the success of the following students who won the following awards:

Orientation Day 2019
On Tuesday, 10 December we welcomed our 2020 Year 7 students to our College for a fun filled day. The Middle Subschool Team, led by Ms Carly Sayer along with the Year 7 coordinator Ms Anna Ditchburn, Transition coordinators Mr Paul Annakis were keen to welcome the eleven home groups of new students to our school and show them how we do things here at ‘Donny’. Our new Year 7 students were great ambassadors for their families and their primary schools. The positive manner in which students conducted themselves was a delight to see. I am certain that in no time these students will be happy and confident in their new environment.
I would personally like to extend a very warm welcome to our new Year 7 students; particularly to our new families and look forward to working with you over the upcoming six years.
End of Year Message
As this is the last newsletter for the year, I would like to take this opportunity, firstly, to thank all our staff for their professionalism and effort throughout the year in providing for your children and secondly, to thank you, the parents, for your commitment to our college and to your child’s education. The positive partnership between home and school is an important one for students to see and this, coupled with a message from home that education is important, is what can make a real difference to the future lives of our children.
I wish you all a safe and happy festive season and look forward to working with you again in 2020.
