Victorian Young Leaders to India
We are four privileged Year 9 students from Doncaster Secondary College who have been given a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to Delhi, India. For three weeks we will be staying in Delhi with three other Victorian school groups, where we will be fortunate enough to be heading to the Taj Mahal and a few other major landmarks and markets.
There is also a homestay program available to us, in which we will be allocated a buddy from the local school we will be attending.
By fully immersing ourselves in the culture and experiencing firsthand the cities function, we believe it will be an eye-opening trip and hope to build upon our leadership skills.
On Thursday, 20 June, the four of us attended a pre-departure program at CERES where we met the other Victorian school students that will be travelling with us. We learnt a lot more about India, including more about their culture and traditions.
We feel so grateful that the Victorian Government has provided us with this opportunity to get out of our comfort zones and explore a little corner of the world. We won’t take one moment for granted and cannot wait to tell the rest of the DSC students all about it when we return!

On Sunday, 21 July, the 5 above-mentioned ambassadors for this school commenced their 9-week sojourn away from the comforts of home, family and friends at the Alpine School for Student Leadership, Gnurad Gundidj Campus situated in Glenormiston near Camperdown in Victoria's Western District.
They will be focussing on personal development and team learning projects. What a wonderful character-building experience this will be for these privileged students! I’m certain their stay will be a fruitful one, allowing the school community to benefit and reap the rewards of their learning and newly found skills through the stimulating and challenging activities offered at the School for Student Leadership.
