LEGO Club

Congratulations to William and Lachlan of 7C for your work to start a LEGO Club at Doncaster Secondary College. The LEGO Club has provided an opportunity for students to get out of the cold weather and build both social connections and some amazing models. Thank you to the following individuals and their families for your support to establish the club through donations: Fiona Makin, Skylah Bryant, Danny Eckhardt, Graham Purnell and Natasha Chan. Thank you also to our staff members, Sandra Colombani, Dawn Warren, Laura Chiappa and Meri Chiappa for supporting William and Lachlan to promote the club.

Parent Opinion Survey

WE WANT OUR PARENTS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents think about our school. The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst a sample of randomly selected parents. It is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of parents’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

Approximately 30 per cent of parents will be invited to participate in this year’s survey. All responses to the survey are anonymous. This year the Parent Opinion Survey is being conducted from Monday, 22 July to Sunday, 11 August.

If your family was selected, the survey will have appeared as an Event on your Compass Parent Portal on Monday 22nd July, for one of your student’s.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 10-15 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include Arabic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Chin (hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.

The survey results will be reported back to the school at the end of September. Please contact the General Office if you would like more information.

Student Led Conferences

Term 3 Year 7-12 Student Led Conferences on Tuesday, 27 August.

In the coming weeks, your child will be preparing for their upcoming Student Led Conferences (SLCs). Your child has been collecting information about their learning and preparing to present to you these efforts and achievements. The purpose of these conferences is for your child to celebrate their learning successes and identify areas of growth guided by a conversation with their subject teacher.

There will be no classes at school on Tuesday, 27 August. Students from year 7 to 12 are expected to attend conferences with parents.

Booking information will be published via a compass newsfeed in the coming week. Families are encouraged to regularly access and read the newsfeeds.
