We Provide Opportunities For Our Students
We have plenty to be proud of in terms of our College. We are a great school that provides so many opportunities for our students – we want our students to succeed and 'to be the best that they can be'.
So much has already happened in 2017 with so much more to come in Term Four. We remain committed to providing the very best opportunities in the key areas important to our College Community:
- Academic Excellence across all Learning Domains
- Sport
- Performing Arts
- Student Leadership and Our Community
Our staff are dedicated to best practice and team work in order to get the best outcomes for our students, and we put the time and effort into developing positive and meaningful relationships with them; it is this 'personalised approach to learning' that is important to our College Community.
Laptop Program
We have reviewed our Laptop Program for 2018. The College will continue to use Learning With Technologies (or LWT) as our preferred supplier.
We will now offer Lenovo Laptops and there will be a small number to choose from. Students with ACER Laptops can continue to use them, however, families are reminded of the warranty requirements associated with their child's Laptop.
Families are asked to check Compass for further information relating to our Laptop Program.
Parent Teacher Student Conferences, Wednesday 20th September
It was fantastic to see so many families in attendance at our recent Parent Teacher Student Conferences. The Conferences were an important opportunity for parents to learn more about the progress of their child. Parents were able to speak with teaching staff about where their children are placed with respect to their learning at this time of the year, and what plans can be put in place to best support students for the remainder of the year.
The Conferences allowed for discussion of student work relating to Common Assessment Tasks and Learning Tasks. They also provided an opportunity for teachers, parents and students to discuss any areas for improvement as we move into Term 4.
We thank our College Community for making the most of this invaluable opportunity to learn more about their child's learning.
Student Representative Council (SRC) : Colour Run, Friday 22nd September
The Student Representative Council (or SRC) have been incredibly busy over the last month or so preparing for the inaugural Wheelers Hill Secondary College, 'Colour Run'. Funds raised will be used to support the purchase of sporting equipment for our Middle School students.
This is a wonderful initiative that I am sure our student participants will thoroughly enjoy. Well done to our SRC and the staff involved.
Student Leadership, 2018
Student Leadership is an important part of our College. Our Student Leadership Program is superbly lead by members of staff Sally Pryde and Kerrie Lay.
Already we have asked students for Expressions of Interest in a number of Student Leadership Positions for 2018 from College Captain to membership of our Student Representative Council. The level of interest from students has been outstanding. We would hope to fill our 2018 Student Leadership Positions by mid way through next term.
