PRECIOUS PLASTIC
Today we tested the Precious Plastic machines at Manning Men’s Shed. We started with just milk bottles and their lids. Now we can start collecting on a larger scale, and in 2019 expand to yoghurt, shampoo and some take-away plastics.
ASC STUDENT PUBLISHING
We continue to write and illustrate books for our business partner YEE, which is based in Beijing. Students in Years 8–11 are the authors and illustrators, and they share stories with Pre-Primary students to learn about early readers and to see if their stories and characters are appealing to the young audience. In 2019 we will grow our team to include writers from Years 5 and 6.
JUNIOR SCHOOL SUSTAINABILITY CLUB
This initiative is led by Year 5 teacher Miss Kylie Chatto in the Hangar on Tuesdays and focuses on Global Goal number 12: reducing waste through responsible production and consumption of goods. Many of the students participated in the Millennium Kids UN conference during the Term 3 holidays.
ELECTRIC VEHICLE CLUB
The Electric Vehicle club’s parent-coaches have been amazing at supporting and advising on design. The team was student led and created an innovative design. We have some of the parts and will aim to have the car ready to race in 2019. We will be looking for new team members in the new year.
RUNWAY
Thinking about doing some holiday shopping at Runway? Many of the businesses take orders, so if you don’t see exactly what you like, just ask and see if the business can create what you’re looking for.
