Benilde

Benilde

Benilde have had a smooth but busy start to the year.  The Hackett Mile was one of the first events to kick off the year. Thanks to all the students who stepped up and ran on the day.

House Athletics was a fantastic day with our Benilde students leading for much of the day.  In the end we finished a respectable second in the seniors.  The junior Benilde students won their Athletics Carnival which gave Benilde a win overall.  Congratulations to Sam Kappler Year 12 runner up athlete and Jordan Liaskos runner up Year 10 athlete.  Well done to all the students who competed on the day, the enthusiasm and participation shown by our students was just wonderful.  Our House Leaders along with other Year 12s were so helpful, a big thank you to you all.

A number of fine young men from Benilde also represented St Bede’s College in the ACC Swimming Carnival Michael Hurst, Joshua Robertson, Ben Mathews, Luke Walker, Max Vaughan and Kane O’Toole.  Congratulations for all your efforts and dedication to the sport over such an extended period of time.

Congratulations to all our students who received Academic and Excellence Awards at the  Senior Awards night held on  8 March.  A fine group of young men dedicated to their studies as well as sporting and cultural pursuits.

Benilde House will continue to sponsor a pre-school in Sri Lanka this year.  Our donation made through the Lasallian Foundation  goes towards providing the young children with clothing, books, food and shelter.

MAD, a big day in our College calendar, was a huge success.  Our students ran or walked to raise money for the Lasallian Foundation and our Outreach Programs.  The activities after the walk and run were a ‘hit’ with the students and teachers!  I would encourage all our students to make a donation so that we can continue our valuable work which we do with our other Lasallian schools in countries overseas.

I encourage all students from Benilde House to get involved and make the most of their time here at St Bede’s College.  Let’s keep the House spirit alive!

All our students should now be settled in and focusing on their studies.  Work hard and make your lives extraordinary Benilde boys!!!
