SRC 2018 Profiles

Hi, my name is Dulara and I am the president for the SRC this year. I am looking forward to leading a team of great people that have put their foot forward to make the school a better place. My hobbies include playing guitar, listening to music and drawing.

This year, my Unit 1 & 2 subjects are Vis Com and Studio Arts, and my Unit 3 & 4 subjects are Business Management and English. I am looking to pursue a career where I can fully develop and utilise my creative side, whether it be in art or music. I feel that I have a number of qualities that would be useful to the SRC, and with the teams combined strength, we will make this a year to remember.

Hello fellow peers, my name is Alema and I currently hold the role of SRC secretary. I have been a student at Carwatha since prep and have enjoyed every minute of this time. My fondest memories come from the ones I have shared at Carwatha. I am currently studying Literature 3/4, Health 3/4, Physical Education 1/2 and History ½.

Next year I would like to continue to work on furthering my 1/2 subjects into 3/4 subjects and picking up new 3/4 subjects along the way. I am a very outgoing and social person so my interests usually revolve around interactive activities with friends and family. I wanted to become a leader so that I could initiate some exciting things at Carwatha, and to be a dependable representative for my year level. I hope to become a person who people can look up to and respect.

My name is Paige Hughes and my role in the SRC team this year is to be one of the publicity officers while representing year 10 students. I first started at Carwatha College in 2011, while I was in grade 3. The subjects I am going to complete in 2018 are units 1&2 Math Methods, units 1&2 Biology, units 1&2 Chemistry and units 1&2 English. My aspirations for next year are to complete units 3&4 of some subjects and to complete units 1&2 of other subjects.

Some of my interest are dancing, drawing and reading. My highlight at Carwatha College was when I went to my first awards night as a secondary student and was awarded the year 7 dux for the year. I was inspired by the leaders to achieve my best. I want to be a leader to inspire other students to achieve their best and to be a positive role model for younger students.

My leadership goals for this year would be to gain more confidence in speaking with people outside my group of friends and to gain better qualities to help myself to become a better person. A message to the community is to never give up and to always strive to achieve your best.

Hello everybody, my name is Wiley Bonne.  I am one of the treasurers for SRC. This year, I am doing VCE unit 1/2 English, unit 1/2 Math, unit 1/2  P.E., and VET building and construction . My hobbies are playing tennis and basketball and going to the gym. I enjoy reading and listening and last of all going out with my mates to the city. One of the most memorable moments I have had at this school is when my team won Interschool Sport Tennis event.

I wanted to be a leader because I want to represent my year level and listen to what they want. I want to make this year the best year for my year level. I also want to build my confidence.

Wiley Bonne

Year 10

I have been in Carwatha College P-12 since year 7 in 2015. Transitioning to a different school in a different location was difficult for me, but in recent years I have adjusted and made close friends.

In 2018 (V1), I am studying courses in Business Management, Chemistry, English, Food for Entertaining (Special Interest) and Mathematical Methods. I have no specific aspirations for next year, but I intend on improving myself in terms of my schedule, my outlook on life and to make the best possible use of my abilities.

My hobbies include meticulously drawn street maps of fictional cities because I want to learn how cities operate within a set layout. I also watch YouTube videos on a daily basis (educative, for entertainment, news etc.) My weekends are taken up by attending French classes on Saturday mornings and extra lessons in Maths and English during Friday and Saturday afternoons, respectively. Although they add more strength to my academic abilities, they are sometimes a burden towards my hobbies.

I have a particularly vivid memory of my close friends working together during a Geography assignment in Year 7. My friends made videos about reporting on a natural disaster and I felt happy when presenting with them. Another was when I finished 2nd in breaststroke in Year 8 during the swimming carnival. They are my memorable moments at Carwatha because I felt that I did my best.

I want to be a position in leadership because I want to contribute to council operations, in order at the very least, to make a change, a positive change to the school community. My leadership goals are to contribute to events such as art shows, lunchtime activities. I am trying my best to represent the school population as accurately as possible while being considerate during discussions and operations. I am also responsible for writing minutes and agendas for our weekly SRC meetings, and distributing them to all stakeholders.

Hi, I am Lia, one of the 2018 Publicity Officers and an older sister to 4 brothers. I really enjoy being at this school as I get a lot of opportunities and have great teachers and fellow students. I am a person with a lot of imagination and I believe that this year will be a pretty interesting year, but as long as we all have a good time and are productive, we will do well.

What I really love most about Carwatha is that we are all different persons with amazing gifts and talents, which we can share and learn with each other. I am looking forward to working as an SRC to make this year memorable.

Lia Alapati,

Year 9

Hello, my name is Joshua Newton. I have a family of 6: my mum, dad, sisters Nichelle and Mikayla, a  baby brother Eric and me. I also have 3 pets: my dog is named Loki and my 2 cats are called Sebastian and Agon(Egg). I was an SRC member in year 6 and was a form captain last year.

I have been a Carwatha student for more than a year and I feel that I already have accomplished so much. I feel I have had a positive first year and have helped many people. In my studies, I performed really well in performing arts, English and math. In my spare time I like to go on walks with my parents, spend time with my baby brother and just be with my family.

I have had many memorable moments at Carwatha but the most memorable would have to be becoming SRC for 2018. I wanted to be an SRC representative because I wanted to help make the school a better place for every student.

I would like to say that you should never give up on your dreams, be always grateful for everything you have and always volunteer to help your community.

Joshua Newton

Year 8

Hello my name is Isabella Eghanian and I am one of the year 8 SRC representatives.

The reason that I went for SRC is because my goal is to one day become a College Captain and I thought this would really help to get me there. In my spare time outside of school, I do competitive swimming. I swim 3-4 times a week for 1 1/2 -2 hours. I have been at Carwatha since prep and had always wanted to participate in leadership roles. In year 2, I was part of the JSC; in year 6, I was arts captain and in year 7, I was form captain.

In the future, I would like to study sports science and try maths methods. My favourite subjects maths and graphics and I am pretty good at them. So far my biggest achievement at Carwatha is making it to district swimming and getting four 1st places. My message for everyone is to go for leadership roles, even if you are not a confident person because you might start out really shy but along the way you learn all the leadership skills.

Isabella Eghanian,

Year 8

Department of Education Policy Update

GIFTS BENEFITS AND HOSPITALITY INFORMATION FOR SCHOOL COMMUNITIES

Teachers, principals and members of school councils sometimes receive offers of gifts, benefits and hospitality from members of the school community. By declaring such offers, school staff support integrity, protect their reputation, reduce complaints and build public confidence in schools.

The Department of Education and Training’s Policy has been changed to reflect this and at the same time adapted for schools.
