SAPSASA District Athletics
On the 27th of March 50 students from years 4 to 7 were selected to participate in the Port SAPSASA District Day. The events everyone competed in were 100m, 200m, 800m, long jump, high jump, shot put, discus and relays. During the day our team were very supportive of one another. Even though everyone was competing against each other, it was a fun day and all the students from different schools were getting along. It was a very successful day and everyone who participated did so well in their events. Largs Bay School came second overall in the big schools and that was a great achievement.
Isabella McGorman – Team Captain
Congratulations to West Lakes Shore on winning the Port SAPSASA District Athletics Championships for the 28th year in a row, an amazing achievement that deserves our respect. Congratulations to every member of our team who fought so hard to try and deny them. Two years ago we were over 100 points behind WLS, last year the gap was 60 points and in 2018 it was 4 points. I keep challenging our students to get better, and achieve more and they keep rising to that challenge. We will be persistent and challenge them again next year.
Our after school training paid off with many students performing at their best. Well done to the individuals and relay teams who finished on the podium. Although not announced yet, we will have a large contingent in the Port SAPSASA athletics team for the state championships on 25th of September.
Congratulations to event winners

School Cricket
The Strikers (Largs Bay White) played their final game of the Kanga Cricket season on Saturday morning, 24 March.
The players, the parents and the school can be very proud of what this team has achieved.
The team values - to have fun and to show respect - have been lived by the players each week. Team performance and player skill levels have continually improved, highlighted by some thrilling-to-watch batting and bowling and several remarkable catches. And each player has experienced the responsibility of game-day captain or vice-captain, and they have all performed well in the role and learnt some valuable lessons in leadership.
Most importantly, the players have been outstanding representatives of the Largs Bay School. The team has consistently demonstrated the school values on and off the field each week, and opposition coaches have commended the players for their behaviour, manners and sportsmanship.
The Strikers, left to right: Dash, Ethan, Paddy, Chilly, Lachlan, Stan, Kaleb and Tait. Absent - Jack R.
Crows Cup – Girls 9 A Side Football
We entered two teams in the 2018 edition of the Crows Cup held on the 4th of April. The teams were made up from year 6/7 and a few late call ups from year 5 did exceptionally well. Largs Bay 1 played some excellent football. They used team work and physicality to blitz the opposition in the group stage. Five wins in a row, including a tough game against 2017 winners West lakes Shore, saw us make the grand final for the 3rd year in a row. We came up against a much bigger Nazareth team who proved to be too good in the grand final, defeating us by 20 points.
Thanks to Travis Downie who coached Largs Bay 2. This team was predominantly year 5 and 6 girls and the experience they gained will help keep LBS contenders in future editions of the Crows Cup.
Thanks to all the family members who came along to Ocean View College to support the girls.
The smiles, laughter and joy displayed by all the girls probably make the bumps and bruises worth it.

Milo T20 Blast Cricket
Milo T20 Blast Cricket
Last month we had two year 6/7 boys teams play in a T20 cricket competition at Grange Oval. Organised by the SACA, teams battled it out to determine regional champions. The winning teams progress to a state final to be played at Adelaide Oval.
The A team played excellent cricket from the first game. They dominated some of their games and were only challenged a couple of times, once by Largs Bay B team. Both teams played some good cricket, with explosive batting, tight bowling and good fielding.
Largs A went undefeated but finished 3rd on aggregate runs scored.
Both teams lived our school values of respect, responsibility and persistence throughout the day. A massive thank you to Dale - Kurtis’ Grandpa, who coached and umpired one of the teams.
