TERM 2 

Welcome back to all Instrumental Music students for Term 2!

We have exciting performance workshops and concerts coming up for all students to attend. Keep an eye on Compass and the newsletter for more information.

MUSIC MEETING

All Instrumental Music students met with Ms Cumming in the PAC during form assembly on Thursday 16 April. 

Information regarding timetables, lesson and band/ensemble expectations, as well as dates for upcoming events was distributed to all students. If students were unable to make the meeting, they can visit the PAC office for a copy of the information from their Instrumental Teacher or Ms Cumming the Instrumental Music Coordinator.

YEAR 7 ROOKIE BAND 

First Rehearsal

Wednesday 22 April

Periods 3 & 4

All Year 7 Instrumental music students who learn a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument will be invited to their first Rookie Band rehearsal.

Students are required in the PAC Band Room with Ms Poduska and Ms McAlister during Periods 3 and 4 on Wednesday 22 April. 

Students will learn how to set up for band rehearsals, how to follow a conductor, play a few notes of music together, and meet all of their fellow Rookie Band members.

Students are to bring a music folder, a pencil and their instrument to school on Wednesday ready for their first rehearsals.

The Rookie Band will be rehearsing on Wednesdays at lunch for the remainder of Term 2. We look forward to hearing their first performance at the Mid Year Concert in June!

BANDS/ENSEMBLES

Students are expected to attend their band/ensemble rehearsals weekly.

Rehearsals for all bands/ensembles in Term 2 are on the following days:

Monday: Vocal Ensemble & Rookie/Hendrix Guitar

Tuesday: Funk Band

Wednesday: Rookie Band

Thursday: LHS Band

Friday: Percussion Ensemble

Information regarding the upcoming Instrumental Music Workshops will be posted onto the Band/Ensemble noticeboard in the PAC hallway. Stay tuned!

MUSIC WORKSHOPS

3 May to 5 May

All students involved in the Instrumental Music program will be involved in a workshop day with their band/ensemble.

Students are given a day to work on their technical and performance skills. The emphasis of the day is readying students for their their performance as part of the Mid Year Concert.

Information will be given out at the beginning of May regarding the workshops and student involvement.
