Celebrating 20 years of Harry Potter in the Resource Centre

June 2017 marks twenty years since Harry Potter began his adventures at Hogwarts. The whole Harry Potter series continues to be one of the most popular titles read and borrowed from our library. We have lost count of how many replacements we have purchased over the years.

The Resource Centre is celebrating this anniversary in a number of ways. RAD reading classes are being entertained by Stephen Fry reading the first few chapters of the audiobook of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. While the students are listening they are diligently and mindfully colouring images from the book while sucking on Weasley’s Fizzy Whizzers (sherbet bombs). Students and staff entering the library foyer are greeted by our resident model Barry, dressed as Professor Severus Snape. He is guarding a stunning display of Harry paraphernalia.

Other displays around the library are showcasing all things Harry Potter. Literary comments from well-known authors, free bookmarks and multiple copies of the books to borrow. Our celebrations will culminate in a lunchtime trivia competition at the end of term.

And then…..

Anne Frank – a seventy year commemoration….so much is happening in the world of reading.
