100 Years of Kilbreda Past Pupil Committee
Centenary Celebration
100 Years of Kilbreda Past Pupils’ Association was celebrated at Kilbreda on the evening of Friday 10 August. In welcoming former students and staff to the evening Co-Principal Nicole Mangelsdorf welcomed former Office Bearers, former Staff members and Past Pupils. Damian Smith shared with us the contents of a Kilbreda Past Pupils’ Association Minute Book located a few years ago which included information related to one of the first reunions in the 1930s. This reunion took the form of a three day retreat which concluded with a social gathering, high tea, music, song and dance. Reunions today take on quite a different format but have a common purpose in retaining a connection to Kilbreda.
Our evening included a visit to the new Kilbreda Auditorium, an impressive resource for the College. Co Principals Teresa Lincoln and Nicole Mangelsdorf proudly pointed out the many features of the auditorium.
Dr Mayumi Purvis spoke to us of her experience of being nominated for and induction to Past Pupils of Distinction expressing the personal benefits of the process involved and pride in being inducted. The Kilbreda Past Pupils of Distinction program for 2019 has now been launched and the Nomination Form is on the Kilbreda website on the Past Pupils’ page http://www.kilbreda.vic.edu.au
Thank you to all who contributed to the success of this event.
