ANZAC DAY
On 25 April every year at dawn, we pause to reflect the service and sacrifice of the men and women of the Australian Defence Forces.
One hundred and three years ago on this day, the ANZAC troops landed at Gallipoli for an eight month long bloody battle. After the defeat here, many men went on to fight on the Western Front in France and Belgium.
April 25, is also the centenary of the battle of Villers-Bretonneux; a battle that was won due to the military skill of Sir John Monash and the determined Australian troops.
In most towns around Australia on April 25, people of all ages have stopped to pay their respects. At the Lilydale Cenotaph, Year 12 Humanities Captains Ben Ahale and Cameron Dossett, laid a wreath on behalf of the students and staff of Lilydale High School.
Our World War 1 veterans have now gone and our World War 2 veterans are slowly diminishing in number. It is wonderful to see the younger generations continue to commemorate our Defence Forces and I thank them for their support.
Lest We Forget.

This year we have 32 different stalls setting up in the Middle School area selling a variety of food such as; hamburgers, BLTS, sausages, egg and bacon rolls, hot chips & gravy, hot dogs, pizza, Vietnamese pork skewers, nachos, toasties, scrolls, popcorn, various sweet treats (vegan options) including brownies, crepes, cupcakes, slices, churros, apple pies, pancakes, sweet pizza, rum balls, spiders, fruit skewers, fruit smoothies, milkshakes and ice cream sandwiches.
Remember to bring your money (preferably coins) on Friday 4 May and support the Year 11 students and their hard work and effort.
