Year 9 Career Action Day
Monday 30 April – 9A, 9B, 9C, 9D, 9E, 9F, 9G
Thursday 3 May – 9H, 9I, 9J, 9K, 9L, 9M, 9N
Cost $13 payable on COMPASS.
All Year 9 students will participate in the Careers Action Day, designed to assist them entering part time work and preparing them for their future aspirations.
Students will;
- Develop a Career Action Plan
- Create an individualised Resume
- Engage in job matching to individual style and skills
- Discover where to search and research jobs
- Learn how to choose the right referees
- Learn how to highlight "you" in a cover letter
- Understand the importance of body language (and practise introducing themselves)
- Explore the 'do's and don'ts' of an interview
- Create a list of interview tips
- Perform a careers interests profiler test
- Attend a mock job interview
As students will be participating in a 'mock interview', they are required to come dressed appropriately for a job interview e.g. black polished shoes, black slacks, white shirt and dress coat.

Inside Monash Seminar Series
These seminars provide VCE students with an insight into the courses and career options within discipline areas.
The seminars are held in various locations across the Caulfield, Clayton, Peninsula, and City campuses, and seminars with the same title have the same program.
All seminars commence at 6.30 pm. Exact venue details are available on registration at Inside Monash Seminars;
University of Melbourne – My Melbourne Future
During the months of May and June, the University of Melbourne will be hosting a series of free ‘My Melbourne Future’ information sessions at the Parkville Campus in the early evening for senior students.
The sessions are aimed at informing prospective students about the courses on offer. Hear from current students, academic staff and recent graduates about what it is like to study a degree or course at Melbourne and the career and personal development opportunities available to graduates.
These events will include a 'Careers of the Future presentation', a sample lecture, student experience insights with Q&A and a courses expo.
