OUR BUSH FOODS GARDEN

New BUSH FOODS Garden

We had glorious weather last Friday on our pupil free day whilst reinvigorating our garden area and planting out our bush foods.

Student Services kindly donated an unused grant voucher they had won so our Bush Foods Garden could come alive.

We purchased our plants through the ever helpful and super knowledgeable Kuranga Nursery in Mt Evelyn and they helped us pick out; Mountain Pepper, River Mint, Finger Limes, Warrigal Greens, Davidson's Plum, Lemon Myrtle, Aniseed Myrtle, Lilly Pilly, and a Macadamia.  The smells are incredible and it is so great to see an area that wasn’t previously used have purpose again.

We are going to give them a little time to settle in and look forward to welcoming students and anyone else in to smell touch and see some of our 'Native Australian Foods'.

Karen and I would like to thank everyone who came on the day.  A special thanks to Chris Werner who came and helped get some photos of the day. It couldn’t have happened without everyone’s help; Maddie Laven and her mum Amanda, Eliza Black and her dad Graeme, Jameson and his Grandparents

An extra special mention to Caleb Gebert of Year 8, who has enthusiastically helped us at each stage of our garden giving up his lunchtimes and days off school to help our garden take shape! Champion effort, thank you Caleb!

The garden before!  Wow, so much rosemary!

The end result!  Has such a different feel to the area.  We can’t wait to see all these little ones grow up.
