Yr 10/12 VCAL Work Ready
Beacon Foundation -
Work Readiness Program
On July 25 and 26 our year 10 and 12 VCAL students took part in Beacon Foundation Work Readiness programs.
The year 10 students attended their “POLISH” workshop off-site at The Connection, Kidstown.
They learnt skills such as marketing themselves, communication, body language, eye contact, confidence and much more. They then put everything into practice over lunch which was attended by community members.
Many thanks to Kylee Dewis, Xavier Snell, Ben Gannon from Jacobs Tatura and Bec Costa Lowe from GMLLEN for giving up their valuable time to share this experience with our students and providing valuable mentoring throughout the afternoon. Thank you as well to the Barr Foundation for sponsoring the day.
Our year 12 VCAL students took part in a “PERFORM” workshop on-site on July 26th. Students completed a personality analysis identifying their strengths and type - expressive, amiable, analytical or driver.
They worked in small groups with employers to discuss: Resumes analysis, conflict resolution, marketing themselves, receiving feed back, goal setting and interview techniques.
VLINE staff participated in a panel session talking about their individual work journeys and gave advice on how to be successful in the work place and how first impressions and communication skills are so important.
Thank you VLINE for sponsoring the day and Lauren Bowman Manager- ANZ Bank Shepparton and Peter Hill Kreskas Transport, for giving up your precious time with the VLINE staff to support our students.
