KIOSC 2019

The end of this year saw the year 7 students engage in a Science Fair project.  Students spent 5 weeks investigating, designing, experimenting, modelling and analysing a scientific question of their choice.  On completing of their work, we held a showcase on Monday morning (7A, 7B, 7C, 7D and 7E) and Wednesday morning (7F, 7G, 7H, 7I and 7S) to highlight their hardwork and effort to their fellow classmates.

Each session had student choice awards, with congratulations going to the following students:

Blake Leaman and Ryder Paton:

Plasma Gun

Xavier Weir and Zoe Delahoy:

Raining diamonds on Neptune.

Emerson Watt and Casey Wood:

Elephant toothpaste volcano

Zach Dixon and Casey Allen:

Egg and vinegar

We also have a large amount of groups who created very interesting research tasks and went above and beyond the requirements of the tasks including the following projects:

Collecting water samples from Silvan Dam all the way to Melbourne and then used the equipment at KIOSC to test water quality.

Reacting metal nails with different strengths of acid.

Growing various crystals

Models, including the brain, an infected arm, the solar system, a polluted vs non-polluted environment.

Overall, all of the students should be commended for the amount of effort that they put into this project, and have set a very high bar for the students next year!

Well done!
