Celebrating all things great at the Grove.
So nice to see all the students after my long service leave. I missed them all! It was also nice to meet the new students and families that started. I want to say a very big thank you to Mrs McDougall & Mrs Cubis, who stepped up as leaders while I was on leave, they did an amazing job. Thanks to the rest of the staff who supported them and kept things running smoothly.
We have cracked 204 students at the school which is just unbelievable! 4 of our classes are quite full now. I have applied for extra staffing allocations this week to support students and staff in these classes, when I hear back about that I will let parents know what this support will look like.
Parents we need you complete the intention to re-enrolment survey monkey so we can apply for our staffing allocations and organise classes for 2021. In previous years we have sent home a paper copy, but this year would prefer you to complete online. Please complete these ASAP with an individual response for each child through the link provided.
Prep enrolment interviews will occur in week 7 & 8. Pre-prep parents will book these interview times at Prep Orientation Day on November 10th at 9am.
The ‘Learn to Swim’ program provides children with the opportunity to develop water safety and confidence, breathing and stroking. All students will be involved in swimming lessons which will be run at UQ Gatton Campus.
As our school is growing, this year we will run a split program:
-Students in P-2 swimming in week 1-5 (commencing Thursday the 8th of October)
-Students in 3-6 swimming in week 6-10 (commencing Thursday the 12th of November) Students will have longer lessons than in previous years, giving them more time in the pool. As swimming is a part of the compulsory school P.E. program, all children are expected to attend each session whether swimming or not (for supervisory purposes). Should you require further information or have a concern, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
I have printed a term calendar to keep families updated on the term. Term 4 is always a busy time of the year and goes by so quickly. We will also add important events to our FaceBook page & class dojo to keep you informed. Some of our events will occur a little differently this year due to COVID safety measures, we will let you know about each event as they occur and the safety measures that will apply.
We are still discussing how to present our annual Christmas concert in the safest way and will discuss this at our up coming P&C meeting if you have some great ideas.
The first exciting event that will be held is Book Week. We will hold the dress up day on Friday 23rd October, students are invited to dress up as a favourite book character on this day. We have also booked Book Fair for some of this time. We will work out a schedule for students and families to purchase from the fair & let you know. Unfortunately we will not be holding Grandparents day this year. But will celebrate with Grandparents through Class Dojo & Facebook also on the 23rd.
Our Year 4-6 are off to camp on Monday. I'm sure they will have a fabulous time & we will share pictures will families about all the activities and learning.
Friday 30th of October is when Queensland celebrates world teachers' day. I would like to acknowledge what wonderful teachers we have at the Grove & we really have a lot to celebrate with them. Thanks for all you amazing hard work & care for our students.
Our next newsletter will be sent out in Week 5! Have a fabulous October!
