Save the date… JAPANESE DAY 2020 is coming in term 4!

Yes, you read that right! Our annual Nihon Matsuri – Japan Festival Day – is coming in term 4. The organisation of the day will be a little different compared to past years, however it will still be a great day full of lots of fun Japanese activities and experiences! Time to start thinking about your Japanese or Asian inspired outfit…

JAPANESE CLASS LEARNING: Grade 1 & 2

Last week our grade 1 & 2 students did a fabulous job practising some Japanese counting, language and facts, incorporating both new and known words. One of the tasks was to revisit and practise counting in Japanese and then make the numbers out of items around their house. WOW – what a clever and creative bunch. Check out of some of the numbers they made!

The Tokyo Tower  draws hundreds to visit every day. With this Google Streetview-like tour of the inside, you can be whisked hundreds of metres into the air and "walk" around the interior of Tokyo Tower. See the Tokyo skyline for yourself!

Tokyo Rail Tracks

For fans of trains and city life, be sure to check out this live feed of Tokyo’s railways. Available rain or shine, at all times of the day, watch the trains snake by from 4:30 am to 1:10 am. This station services ten different lines. The skyscrapers and roadways in the back are just as grand to watch, especially at sunset and night, when the bright landscape flickers with night lights of the city. The trains clacking on the rails also makes for a relaxing white noise and gives you a sense of Tokyo’s magnitude.

Sapporo Maruyama Zoo

Take a walk on the wild side at the Sapporo Maruyama Zoo’s animal video page! You can see the snow monkeys, giraffes, beavers, hippos, wolves, and more. Even better, the videos are updated often and show you the living quarters of each animal as well as some very cute video shots. Kids and parents alike are sure to love this “day at the zoo”.
