Important Information for Remote Learning
- An Attendance Roll will be marked each day. If your child is not learning on a particular day please notify the school in the usual way. If your family require greater flexibility with home learning hours please contact your child’s teacher so they are aware and can make adjustments to this requirement.
- If your classroom teacher is absent on a particular day you will be notified.
- iPads are learning devices and should only be used for activities set by the classroom teacher.
- Parents should always be available when children are learning online.
- Screen time should continue to be monitored closely and balanced.
- At least an hour of daily physical activity should be scheduled into the daily timetable.
- Family rules and expectations around technology apply to Remote Learning.
- All classroom and school PBIS expectations apply to the on-line classroom.
- There are many excellent resources available for keeping children safe online, such as this one https://www.esafety.gov.au/educators
Google Meets
To ensure all students from all units have access to an iPad at a specific time so that they are able to connect via Google Meet, we have decided on the following timetable. We know this is particularly important for families with children in multiple year levels. Foundation students will continue to connect via SeeSaw. Please note the Google Meet expectations relevant to your child’s year level (either sent out in a unit letter or explained to students in the early meetings this time around). The Google Meets are solely for the purpose of supporting learning at home. The differences in the times and number of meets reflects the level of support required across the year levels.

Allocation of Work
In reflecting on the first period of Remote Learning we have decided to streamline the times when work is allocated to students. In having set times when work is posted on Google Classroom or SeeSaw, families are able to share the access to the iPad between children when needed without needing to worry about multiple days of work all at once. There is a lot to consider across all year levels and all families and we believe the format outlined below is the most efficient process to support everyone involved.
Foundation | Foundation students will have their work for the day posted to SeeSaw the morning of. |
Year 1/2 | Year 1/2 students will have their work for the following day posted to Google Classroom at approximately 4pm the day prior. In the case of Monday, this work will be posted at approximately 4pm Friday afternoon prior. |
Year 3/4 | Year 3/4 students will have their work for the day posted to Google Classroom the morning of but this will be closer to their Google Meet time (approximately 9:30am) to give other siblings time to access their work before hand. Up until the work is posted and the Google Meet begins, students in Year 3/4 are expected to complete their daily individual reading. |
Year 5/6 | Year 5/6 students will have their work for the day posted to Google Classroom the morning of. |
Italian | Italian will be posted on the day the students usually have Italian. Foundation and Year 5/6: Tuesday Year 1/2 and Year 3/4: Wednesday |
Art | Art will be posted on the day the students usually have Art. Foundation and Year 5/6: Tuesday Year 1/2 and Year 3/4: Wednesday |
As you can see above, there is much to consider when planning for all of our students to be able to access the support they need through the iPad. We also know that supporting multiple children in different year levels to have access to what they need is a challenge. We believe the plan we have developed for Google Meets and Allocation of Work will assist in supporting families during this second Remote Learning period.
Communication between Home and School
Communication between the home and school is very important and teachers are available via email or phone. However, due to ongoing teaching commitments related to organising the Remote Learning program, teachers may not be able to respond to questions quickly. Teachers are committed to responding in a timely manner and will do so as soon as possible.
