Principal

Welcome to Week 10 of Term 3.

The final week of Term 3 is finally upon us with the school holidays only a couple of sleeps away.  Our students and staff have worked extremely hard over the past term and are looking forward to the opportunity to rest and recharge.  With various COVID-19 travel restrictions loosening, families may even have the opportunity to venture further afield than Moree during the term break.

Over the past couple of weeks, staff, students and parents have been provided with the opportunity to provide feedback regarding the school through a School Satisfaction Survey.  I would like to thank the members of our learning community for taking the time to complete this survey.  It is through the constructive voice of staff, students and parents that true school improvement can occur.  It is my intention to provide an executive summary of the findings to our school community throughout Term 4, as part of a reflection of the 2020 academic school year.  It is clear from an initial snapshot of the results that our staff, students and families are very satisfied with the school as a whole, and have provided some insights into areas of school improvement around facilities, academic growth and pastoral care.

On behalf of the St Philomena's Catholic Professional Community, I would like to congratulate our Year 6 and Year 2 students on receiving the sacraments of Confirmation (Year 6) and First Reconciliation (Year 2) this term.  This is an important step in their faith development as they continue to strengthen their personal relationship with Christ. Thank you to the parents and sponsors for supporting our students and for being a constant living example of Christ in their lives.

I would also like to thank the staff and students of St Philomena's Catholic School for their dedication, positive energy and commitment to learning and growth throughout Term 3.  I have thoroughly enjoyed the many learning conversations that I have had with students and Leaders of Learning over the past few weeks regarding academic growth and the achievement of specific reading, writing and mathematics goals.  So exciting!

Finally, remember that the term break is a wonderful opportunity for families to enjoy some special time together, creating and sharing new memories.  In the busyness of life, try and remember to stop, take time and give thanks for all the incredible gifts we have in our lives.  Enjoy the term break, travel safe and I look forward to seeing everyone back for a final term of learning and growing for 2020. Where has the year gone!

Please share this prayer for holidays with your family as you enjoy your term break.

God bless,
