Positive Climate for Learning

1-2 Learning Community

What pandemic?!

You wouldn’t know there’s a global pandemic going on with all the amazing work going on in the 1-2 Learning Community. Once again, our students, parents and carers, and staff have risen to challenge of Remote Learning and have absolutely smashed it!

One of our main learning intentions has been ‘Features of a Narrative Text’. We know that Narrative Texts are made up stories. I’m sure if you ask any of the Grade 1-2 students they’ll be able to tell you that in a Narrative Text there are three main features. These features are:

  1. Orientation – this tells us the who, when and where of our story and is at the start of the text.
  2. Complication – the series of events in the middle of the story that make up the problem.
  3. Resolution – this tells us how the complication was solved and is usually at the end of a text.

Another main learning intention has been ‘Developing our Understanding of Number Lines’. Number Lines are really important for our understanding of numbers and they become a great strategy to use for many different concepts in maths.

Check out the incredible pieces of work that some of our 1-2 students have done below.
