Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

Covid-19 Update

Following on from my update via Compass in regards to returning to onsite learning in Term 4 on 8/9/20, at this stage there are still many unknowns and we await more detailed information from the Department of Education and Training (DET).

We will advise updates regarding COVID-19 and return to school plans as soon as they are known. Please ensure you are regularly checking Compass for updates. Of course, if you are having trouble accessing your Compass account, please contact the office.

With all students expected to return to Onsite Learning from Week 2 of Term 4 (Monday October 12th, I can say that we will be looking to utilise the time next week and first week back to establish supportive transition arrangements and some opportunities for 'intensive assessment. With such disruption to our school year to date, we really want to maximise every minute of learning in Term 4 and understanding where our students learning needs and abilities are is essential to that.

Please also take a look at the dates to remember and you will notice that there are two Public Holidays in Week 3. Mark these in your calendars and remember that students will not be required to attend school on these days.

SolarBuddy

Thank you!

In the students words: “As a school community, we came together and reached our goal!”

We would like to thank the ACS community for achieving our Solar Buddy target. Your generous contributions have resulted in 50 Solar Buddy portable light systems being delivered for construction during Term 4.

Next term, look forward to hearing more about Solar Buddy, as our students further investigate their impact, work collaboratively to co-construct solar panels and write letters to their new buddies.

ACS, would like to make special mention to Warralily - Newland Developers for their generous contribution.

Cyber Safety

We would like you to take note of the safety of your child in today’s virtual world and in specific whilst students are accessing Remote Learning on their devices.

We ask that you please keep up to date with websites and people your child/ren may be accessing while playing games.

A general rule is for your child/ren to be online in the communal space in your house and not their bedrooms, so as to ensure you are more aware of websites and people your child/ren may access and talk to.

Please have a look at this excellent website as you may want to spend some time with your child discussing some of the aspects:

https://www.esafety.gov.au/kids

Some of the topics the website highlights are:

  • How kids can be safe online
  • How to manage a situation when another person is being mean to them
  • Sharing of personal information online
  • Security and privacy for devices
  • What to do when somebody is contacting your child and your child don’t want them to
  • Things to watch out for with their online friends
  • What to do when your child saw something they didn’t like

Please feel free to contact your child's Home Group teacher if you have would like any further information and support.

Educator Appreciation

A big thank you to our school community for your messages of appreciation to staff and for continuously supporting us during this unprecedented time.

Please watch the video below, which was shared with staff and very much appreciated.

End of Term 3

A reminder that school finishes at the earlier time of 2.10pm on the last day of Term 3, Friday 18 September. If your child/ren are onsite on this day, please make arrangements to collect them at this earlier time.

Parent/Teacher Conferences and Student Support Group (SSG) Meetings

It was great to see fantastic parent and student interaction during our Parent/Teacher Conferences held on Wednesday 9 September.

More than ever, we at Armstrong Creek School appreciate the partnership between home and school and these conferences allowed us to further strengthen our connections.

Thank you to all families who took part in these conferences and enabled us to celebrate as a team the learning achievements of our students.

School Photos

Official School Photos have been rescheduled to Wednesday 18 November due to COVID-19.

Families will be given information on how to order individual, class and sibling photos closer to the date.

Have a great weekend!
