Exciting Announcement
The Grade 5/6 Virtual School Camp is next week!
We may not be able to go to Canberra this year, but that is not going to stop us from having some fun on the LAST 3 DAYS OF TERM! Wednesday 16th - Friday 18th September.
Our class captains talked to Mr Millar about not wanting to miss out on camp just because of COVID19. We know this year our senior students have missed out on many school events that make momentous memories and camp is one of them. It was especially important for our grade 6 students whose last year of primary school is going to look very different to any year before it.
In what has been a challenging and unusual year, we’ve had to get creative about how we do a “camp” when we can’t leave our homes, let alone the state. So, the grade 5/6 teachers have planned 3 days of fun and creative activities for the students to do instead of the usual lessons.
How will it work?
⛺️ CAMP GROUPS ⛺️
Students from all classes across grade 5/6 will be put into mixed activity groups.
They will work individually on the tasks, BUT they will earn points together as a team!
🥇 Prizes & Awards 🏆
Every time a student participates in a task and completes it by 2PM, they will earn a point for their group!
Teachers may award BONUS points on tasks for effort or creativity.
Teachers will also be looking for "CAMP CHAMPS". These are students who stand out as showing Tribes Agreements and excellent effort throughout the 3 days.
And we’ve got some great prizes:
💰💸 EVERYONE on the WINNING TEAM will be awarded with a $12 voucher
🥇🥈🥉 CAMP CHAMPS will also receive a $12 voucher
🤝 GROUP WEBEX MEETINGS - 9.30 & 11am 🤝
The teacher/group leader will have a 9.30am Webex meeting each day.
Students must join this 9.30am Webex to talk to their team about the tasks they will do that day! There will also be Webex meetings at 11am for students to ask any questions about the tasks.
⏰ Daily Process ⏰
8.50am - Daily task list is posted
9.30am - Group Webex (join the teacher's Webex meet to chat with the group)
10am (on day 1) and 9am (on day 2 & 3) - 7 tasks posted - students choose the task they want to complete
11am - Webex meet for questions (if they are not sure about a task or need help)
2pm - All tasks MUST be finished/submitted - teachers will check and tally points
If you have any questions please feel free to email your child’s teacher!
