A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Dear Parents and Carers,

This Sunday is Father’s Day, a time to reflect on the special role fathers and grandfathers play in our lives. Our fathers teach us many life skills and influence us throughout our lives.

My father taught me the importance of family, to work hard, to help those less fortunate, to love sport and to pray. He was a man of great faith and we often prayed as a family. We prayed before meals, before going to sleep at night and for special intentions; especially if someone close to us was sick. We prayed the rosary on long car trips and we prayed to thank God for our many blessings.

The actions of a father speak volumes to his children. Even if they can’t articulate it when they’re young, they’re watching and learning. And even if they won’t admit it when they’re older, there’s a strong pull to follow in his footsteps. When a father chooses the right path, his family is blessed.

When our fathers show compassion, they give us a glimpse into the heart of God. Strong - yet tender, deeply understanding, fiercely loyal, and always ready to help us through the toughest of times.

I encourage your family to say the following prayer for Father’s Day and I hope all our families have a fun day together!

Dear God,

Thank you for all the fathers and father-figures in this world and for the many ways you use them to lovingly guide others to Your heart.

I ask that you would bless them and give them great joy and peace.

May they see You and know You in new ways.

Show them how much you love them and care about them.

Guide their steps, use their hands, and make them a blessing to others as you continue to fulfill your special purpose for their lives.

Amen.

Last term our 3 Way Parent, Student and Teacher conferences were a successful initiative. At these meetings the students set goals for their learning. This week I ask you to talk to your children about their goals and how they are going with them. Have they mastered one goal and moved onto another? Do they need more help to achieve their goal? Please contact your child's class teacher if you can’t see progress in your child’s learning. Remember learning is a three way partnership and together we can achieve great things!

In the Focus on Learning section of our newsletter you will find some useful tips on how you can help your child at home with developing Number concepts in Mathematics. Counting games can be fun on a car trip and learning Times tables is still very important.

Have a rewarding week,

Take care and be safe.
