Sytori Noble, Year 12

Sytori Noble is one of our Year 12 Prefects and a member of the dance group. We interviewed her about her experiences as a member of the dance group.

Hello, I am here to interview one of the dancers from JBHS, would you like to state your name?

My name is Sytori Noble.

What was the reason you chose to join the dance group?

The reason I chose to join the dance group was because it was my last years of high school, and I joined in 2022. It was to enjoy my last years of high school and be with a group with the same passion towards dancing on a stage in front of people.

What was your experience like at dance?

There have been multiple experiences I've had at dance. Most of them are challenging and motivational, but also helped grow my confidence in the things I do at school and also dance. Not only that, but I will be able to perform with a group of students that have the same passion as me.

What do you feel before and after dancing?

Before dancing, I deal with a lot of things like adrenaline and nervousness. The thoughts I have are like “I’m going to mess this up”, “I’m going to do things wrong”, “I’m going to fall off the stage”. Afterwards, I feel relieved and it’s just another way of expressing how proud of yourself you can be. After all the practicing and dancing, I feel like I’ve finally done it without making any mistakes.

What is your motivation to continue dancing?

My friends that I've made before and during dance. They are also a big support for me to continue dancing. Not only that, but it’s also my passion to perform and be able to put on a show for people who have a lot of heart for dancers.

What are the benefits and disadvantages of dancing?

Dancing can give you a confidence boost, you become more social on stage and outside of school and you can also make friends. But you can get injured really easily if you don't stretch or do a move wrong. Usually you have to dress up, so after your performance there's gel and makeup you have to get off, which gets pretty tiring.

What advice would you give to future dancers?

I’m not a professional dancer or anything, but as a non-dancer, just try new things. I didn’t think I was going to be a good dancer or be anything, but I actually got one of the main parts alongside my friend Jordyn.

We thank Sytori for giving us her insights into what it's like to be a dancer at JBHS.
