Spotlight on a

Student

Hugo Tran, Year 9

For this edition, we spotlight Hugo Tran of Year 9, who is a member of the dance group. Hugo was given the opportunity to showcase his dancing ability at the School Spectacular earlier in the term. We sat him down to ask him a few questions.

What was the reason you chose to join the dance group?

I enjoyed being a dancer and wanted to be a popular dancer. I also like listening to music.

What was your experience like at dance?

Amazing and awesome and I feel energetic to show everyone that I’m a good dancer. I get to meet new people and see students from my old school as well.

How do you feel before and after dancing?

Happy and excited. But I used to feel nervous before dancing.

What is your motivation to continue dancing?

So I can become a popular dancer and a rapper-dancer like Jackson Wang. If I didn’t do dance I would be doing a boring job, and dance is leading me to K-Pop music. I want to write my own songs and do Hip-Hop dancing, and I also want to save up money and pursue my dancing in North Korea with my dad.

What are the good things and bad things about dancing?

I enjoy being a dancer and I am good at dancing. Dance has let me meet new people from a lot of schools. I like the costumes as well. Sometimes it gets harder when I’m learning new moves.

What advice would you give to future dancers?

The audience is so happy and proud, and I don't feel overwhelmed.

What is your best memory from dance?

My best memory is going to School Spectacular at Qudos Bank Arena and becoming popular on TV. My favorite dance was Play To Win because it was so easy. The best song I like to dance to is Fake Love because it’s so easy. I want to write my own songs and do Hip-Hop dancing.

We thank Hugo for taking the time to tell us all about his dance experience.
