Around the College

Monty Boori Pryor

Recently, the Year 8, Year 9 and Year 11 students were grateful to have the chance to attend an engaging presentation from first nations author and storyteller Boori Monty Pryor. In this presentation, Monty shared about his life, and about Story Doctors, a powerful story that condenses 80,000 years of history into just a small number of pages. This presentation was thoroughly enjoyable and not only provided a deep insight into the rich history of Australia, but also the power of storytelling, and how it can provide a new and creative perspective on the world around us. It was an amazing experience, and we are very grateful to Monty for sharing his beautiful story with us.

Year 7 Endeavour Way Day - Courage

All Year 7 students recently had the opportunity to take part in a day where they had the opportunity to focus on how Courage can be demonstrated at Endeavour College. As one of our four school values, it was a great opportunity for the students to develop a better understanding of its meaning.

On the day, the students had the opportunity to really unpack what Courage looks like in a high school environment. They also had a look at how the decision-making model POOCH (Problem, Option, Outcome, Choose, How did it go?) could be used to help make courageous decisions. Other activities on the day involved analysing videos demonstrating Courage, writing a goal about how they can show greater Courage at Endeavour, as well as finding out about the Courage shown by Peter Norman at the 1968 Summer Olympics.

The students were also very fortunate to have the Year 9 Village Leaders lead some activities relying on Courage in the last lesson of the day. We hope that the Year 7 students will continue to find opportunities to demonstrate the value of Courage as they continue to adjust to the high school way of life.
