Year 1 Visit to the Aquarium

On Thursday 1st June the Year One’s were all very excited to be heading into the Melbourne Aquarium for an excursion. The Year One’s have been learning about different sea animals and their different habitats in our Inquiry Unit this term. At the Aquarium each class were lucky to have an Aquarium Guided Tour, where we were guided through all the different parts of the Aquarium learning about all the different sea creatures and their habitats. All of the students asked lots of interesting questions to learn more about the different animals. There are certainly lots of amazing sea animals to see. 

I liked seeing the Penguins and holding the Port Jackson egg shell in the rockpools.

Year 3 Moonlit Sanctuary Excursion

On Wednesday the Grade 3s had a fantastic time visiting Moonlit Sanctuary as part of their Inquiry topic. They learnt about wombats, koalas, shingleback skinks, snakes and much more. The students loved exploring the wallaby walk where they got to feed wallabies and kangaroos.

Grade 2 Craftpower Incursion

On Monday 5th June the Grade 2’s participated in a Craftpower incursion. Using saws, stencils, hammers and nails each student created their own ‘Helicar’. A big thank you to Skye and Kacie for helping 2MD.

On Monday we had to go to the hall because we had an incursion. It was on 5/6/2023. We had to cut wood to make a car. We had to choose a car there was Lamborghini and BMW. After we put on the wheels. We had to make a driver to drive the car. When we came back into the classroom we coloured our cars. 

Macey 2MD

One day there was a power incursion and I saw a table and a saw on it and Anatoli gave us instructions so we don’t chop our fingers off. First we have to get glasses and pick our car there was BMW, Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini. I picked Ferrari and my partner was Logan and he picked Ferrari. Then I put the rest of the wood in the bin and then I packed up. Then me and Hunter, Theo and Bill were sitting on the mat and then we were doing something else. We made a person I sawed it and then when I was done I showed the teacher. I got the sandpape. I smoothed the edges. There was still some more rough edges and then I showed the teacher. She said help someone and I helped Logan and Bill. Bill got it and Logan as well and then I watched TV. We were watching a truck guy and it was so long and I said wow. Everyone said wow as well. It was really loud and then we tidied up and then we said thank you Anatoli and it was so fun. 

Zayden 2MD

On Monday we went in the hall for the Craftpower incursion. The first thing I saw was lots of benches and lots of other stuff. His name was Anatoli. We got a stencil which was a car. We drew around it on a board. When we were doing that Anatoli introduced us to Bob the Builder and Harry. Harry was a bell and Bob the builder was a statue of a boy. Once he was done we could keep going. Once we all finished we got a person. After you had to get a hammer and 2 nails and a block. It was really hard I even needed help. When we were all done we all got our own licence! After that we had a race!

Marhli 2MD

On Monday morning 2MD went to the hall for an incursion. When we got there we saw a lot of tools. The man there was called Anatoli and his helpers were Bob the Builder and Harry the Bell. We made cars out of wood. First we had to trace some wood. After that we had to cut the wood with saws. I got stuck with some wood but i managed to do it. Next we did some sanding to smooth the woods sides. Then we got our licence. After that we went to our classroom for lunch.

Harper 2MD

My class met Annetoile, he works for Craft Power. My class made cars out of wood. We did lots of wood working. I made the Rolls Royce. We have to choose partners to work next to. I chose Carter. On the other side of the table was Archie and Sonny. We hammered and sawed and used pliers and stencils. When we were finished our cars were amazing! When we came back to the class we decorated them. Billie 2W

On Monday all Grade 2 students had an incursion, we built toy cars and Mr Annetoile taught us. We used saws, hammers, nails and tyres. I made a Ferrari, it was cool! Step 1: We cut all of the wood around the picture. Step 2: We went to Annetoile to get wheels glued on. Step 3: We made a character. Step 4: We decorated. I loved the Craftpower incursion! Ashton 2W

Today we had an incursion. We built a car and we used a saw to cut the stencil line. It was very hard at first, then it got very easy. After Annetoile told us we were to go make a person but we had to go an get another stencil. We had to do more cutting with the saw. Annetoile helped me cut out some of it. After we super glued it together! Harper 2W

Have you ever used a saw because I have! Yesterday we had an incursion with saws! We started cutting a board that was made out of wood. Then we polished it with sand paper and Annetoile glued wheels on it. Mine was really cool! Then I sat down to watch a video. After the video we went back to the classroom to colour our cars. I did not finish mine. At least after that we packed our bags and went home.
