This week the Year 3 and 4 students will begin participating in a four week program 'Quick Stix' during their year level sport time. The school has obtained a grant to bring the program to Karoo at no cost for parents. The program is a free flowing form of lacrosse for students to begin learning the game. It focuses on the three basic lacrosse skills: scooping, catching and throwing. From this starting point, the students can then move onto team play and game rules. The program will be administered by qualified lacrosse coaches.

On Tuesday 18th July the Year 6 girls netball team competed in the Division finals after progressing through the District level. The girls played 7 games on the day, winning all of them and maintaining their undefeated record. We are extremely proud of the teamwork displayed by the girls and wish them all the very best of luck for the Eastern Metropolitan Region finals at Waverley Netball Centre on Monday 14th August. Thank you to Claire Moyle for supervising and coaching the team on the day.
On Thursday 13th July our school captain Jack D (6H) competed in the State Cross Country Championships at Yarra Valley Racing Club. To get to this stage, he progressed through the Karoo cross country, District, Division and Region. Jack completed the 3000m (3km) run with a time of 00:12:39.470
Jack finished in 31st place overall out of approximately 100 students. On behalf of the Karoo community, we are so proud of his outstanding achievement and for embodying our school value of personal excellence. Jack consistently displays good sportsmanship during PE sessions and he is a wonderful role model for younger students. Well done!
