Mrs Kylie Middlemiss - Acting Assistant Principal

An Introduction

Welcome to the beginning of a new semester and let me introduce myself to you all.

My name is Kylie Middlemiss and I feel privileged to be joining the team here at Karoo Primary School. In my two weeks at the school I have already been blown away by the warmth and supportive nature of the teaching team, the students and the wider community.

I have witnessed many examples of kindness, personal excellence and tenacity as I have moved through classroom and playground spaces and chatted with children about their learning, their interests and their goals. It has been lovely having children of all ages coming up and introducing themselves and showing a genuine interest in getting to know me. I hope to continue to get to know many more students!

It is evident that immense work has been undertaken at Karoo to deliver high quality, assessment responsive instruction to our students and I look forward to continuing this journey with the Karoo team over the next few terms and supporting the culture of excellence here.

I have come into this community after spending the last 5 years as a member of the leadership team at the Monash Children’s Hospital School which opened in 2018. The school supports the education of hundreds of children each year who are undergoing physical and mental health conditions - both as inpatients and across the state. It has been a huge learning curve and I am grateful for the experiences it has afforded me. Prior to this role I spent many years at Mount View Primary School in Glen Waverley.

At home I live locally with my husband and two young children aged 6 and 4, who certainly keep me on my toes! We also have a very well loved pug named Chip. My children attend school and childcare nearby and it has been lovely reconnecting with many families already in the school who we have had community connections with over the years. We enjoy travelling together and spent some time in beautiful Bright over the recent school holiday period. I hope you were all able to find pockets of time to spend together as a family too over the break. They certainly go too fast and time spent together is something that over recent years we have come to appreciate more than ever.

I look forward to getting to know more of you over the months to come and working together to support our learners. Please come and introduce yourselves!

Warm Regards,

Kylie Middlemiss
