World Youth Day 2023

World Youth Day (WYD) 2023 is fast approaching. Major events of World Youth Day include the Papal Welcome, catechesis, and youth festivals, as well as the final pilgrim walk and vigil with Pope Francis and millions of other young Catholics.

Over 500 excited pilgrims from the Archdiocese of Melbourne have been busily preparing for the journey to Lisbon in Portugal at regional gatherings and leadership formation sessions.

It is wonderful that pilgrims from our school community will be attending WYD this year from 28 July 2023 to 9 August 2023. The four Year 11 students attending are Dakoda Sosa, Kaitlyn Wycherley, Katrina Nguyen and Lisa Vu. Two staff are also attending: Ms Marilyn Robert and Mr Jason Robert.

As a symbol of the light of Christ that accompanies each pilgrim on their journey, the College has been gifted a candle for pilgrims to bring with them to the WYD Commissioning Mass on Sunday 16 July 2023, at 11.00 am in St Patrick’s Cathedral.

At the College, we conducted a short prayer ceremony with all Year 11s and the candle was presented to pilgrims signifying prayers and support for their journey to Lisbon and for a faith-filled experience.

May we pray that the pilgrims from our community will return from WYD burning brightly with the joy and light of Christ to share and enrich not only their own lives, but the life of our whole school community.

May we pray that we be open to how God is calling us in our lives on our own journey of faith.

Holy Family of Nazareth, be our inspiration and our guide.

Jesus of Nazareth, help us to grow in Faith, Wisdom and Knowledge
