Baking Competition

The first day of LOTE week kicked off with a delicious baking competition! Students had to create a German, French or Latin baked good and present it to a judging panel at lunch. Our very own Ciar Foster participated in the judging alongside our amazing Languages teachers. We tasted everything from black forest cakes, bretzels, madeleines, macaroons to homemade croissants! Students were judged on authenticity, taste, aesthetics, and technical complexity. It’s safe to say we were absolutely spoilt for choice and our stomachs were very happy and full!

Here is the list of our winners:

Authenticity: Pretzels by Audrey Lang Year 7

Taste: Clafoutis by Saiya Zhao Year 7

Looks: Madeleines by Aly Findlay Year 10

Technical Complexity: Ube croissants by Alexys Ripas Year 8

Technical Complexity: Crêpe cake by Jessie Verma, Sofia Palileo and Rishika Goda Year 8

Overall winner: Black Forest cake by Chloe Fox Year 12

A massive well done and thank you to everyone who participated - this honestly was an absolute foodie’s dream! We look forward to doing this next year and it being even bigger and better!
