Aboriginal Education

JAECG

On the 25th of May, our Junior Aboriginal Education Consultative Group participated in a remarkable leadership day for local schools in the area. It was a truly enlightening experience, as we had the privilege of listening to inspiring Aboriginal speakers who graciously shared their stories. They spoke about their upbringing, the challenges they faced with racism, and how they overcame adversity. Their resilience and determination left a lasting impact on all of us.

The theme for this year's Reconciliation Week, "Be the Voice for Generations," has been at the forefront of our activities. To honour this important theme, our students collaborated with other schools to create thought-provoking posters that reflect our interpretation of reconciliation week. The level of creativity and passion displayed by our students was truly inspiring. Together, we aim to raise awareness, foster understanding, and promote unity within our community.

I am thrilled to announce that two of our outstanding students, Samuel Tedd and Phillip Farnham Farley, had the incredible opportunity to attend this event. They represented KKHS with pride and were shining examples of the amazing young leaders we have within our midst. Samuel and Phillip, thank you for being exemplary ambassadors for our school. We are immensely proud of your achievements!

This event was a true testament to the power of storytelling and the strength that lies in sharing our experiences. It reminded us of the importance of empathy, understanding, and creating an inclusive environment where every voice is heard. It is through these conversations that we can work together to build a brighter, more inclusive future.

As we continue to celebrate Reconciliation Week, let us remember the lessons we have learned from the inspiring speakers and the stories they shared. Let us embrace the theme and become the voices for generations, advocating for equality and respect for all. Together, we can make a difference.
