CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week in Mathematics students will be exploring length. They will be estimating the length of and then measuring classroom objects using informal measurements. 

VOCABULARY

Informal measurement: a way of measuring something without using cm or m. Instead you measure things with other objects like unifix blocks, hands, icy pole sticks.  

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Ask your child to choose some household objects to measure using informal measurements. For example, measuring the couch and a book with hands.
